Description
A breast plough is a spade used to pare turf and other vegetation. This breast plough has the initials 'F.S.H.' on the underside of the handle. It was collected by J. B. Passmore, Lecturer in Agricultural Machinery at the University of Reading.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – ‘DESCRIPTION: This plough is in excellent condition and looks as if it has had very little use. The design of the beam is particularly graceful. The initials F.S.H. are branded on the underside of the handle. // The overall length is 7½“, the handle is 30½“ across. The metal share is 11½” from the bottom of the beam to the apex and 10½” across. The coulter stands up 3½” from the share on the left hand side.’
