Description
This dog training collar was used for training sporting dogs such as setters, spaniels, retrievers and pointers. It was in use in the donor's family at Baldon, near Oxford, for nearly 100 years. It was used with a long cord lead fastened to the link on the collar and if the dog 'ran in', the two iron bars pinched the fleshy part of the neck and pulled the dog up sharply. The leather strap prevented damage to the dog's throat.
