Description
A jack plane or fore plane, known as a 'go faster plane' in Berkshire, is a woodworking tool used in the preliminary levelling of rough surfaces. The stock is made of beech and the blade of steel. The plane is stamped 'Taylor & Gillard, Reading', 'John Moseley & Son, Broad Street, Bloomsbury, London' and 'W. Simmons', the latter being the name of a previous owner. The plane is said to have been used in the Reading area.
