Description
This is an aluminium tool consisting of two parts which articulate. The bottom part has a bowl which the top part presses into. It was almost certainly designed for use as a lemon squeezer and may have been repurposed when in use at the Hertfordshire County College of Agriculture. In this context the object may have been used for squeezing or pressing something else, possibly rennet.

Use- Probably for squeezing or pressing’, MERL Miscellaneous note, Ollie Douglas, 18 July 2014 – This object was almost certainly designed as a lemon squeezer or a juice extractor for use with fruit. It may well have been repurposed at the Herfordshire County College of Agriculture, perhaps for use as described in the original MERL 'History Artefacts' card. However, it may simply have been misidentified at the time of acquisition.
