Description
This is a maltster’s shovel, from Warwick Brewery, Newark. It would have been used for turning over and aerating the bed of grain on the malting floor and kiln; also for loading and unloading sisterns, Kilns etc. in malting. This particular type was usually used for turning on the floors, being smaller and lighter than the loading shovels and dry malt scoops.
