Description
This travelling basket would have been used for transporting chickens. It is a rectangular basket made of white willow. Instead of a lid, the basket has a closed top with a door in the centre.

The bottom is slewed, the sides have one fitch & very heavy top & bottom wales. After the top is made the sticks are laid over the top wale & the basket border (5-behind-2) is worked over them. The top has open & closed weaving & a door in the centre. Stakes are alternately thick & thin set with 1” between them.
