Description
This is an 18 bore, muzzle loading, short barrel carbine musket made of wood and metal. It is inscribed with ‘Crown V. R.’, dating it to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901). It was issued to a guard on a mail coach – the short barrel assists handling at close quarters.
