Descripción
Butter prints were used for leaving a hallmark of the place of origin on blocks of butter and often had symbolic designs. This plunger type of butter print not only decorated the butter but measured it. It consists of a small barrel with a plunger inside, which imprints the design on the butter as it is ejected from the barrel. This print is carved with a design of a strawberry and leaves. It is made of sycamore, a close-grained wood often used for dairy equipment, where scrubbing and cleaing is important.
