Descripción
This hop-bagging machine was used at West Court in Binsted, Hampshire. The machine packs the hops into a 'pocket' - a sack-like bag which is approximately 6 foot long x 2 foot wide. The working parts are in the upper part of the machine and when the pocket is full it is removed from the lower half. The machine was made by J. Woodbourne of Park Iron Works in Kingsley, Hampshire, who describes himself as 'Manufacturer & Patentee'. The machine is believed to date from the mid-nineteenth century.
