A billhook is an edge tool used in hedging, coppice work and other woodland trades, and show great regional variety with each area having its own accepted pattern and shape. This is a Dorset pattern billhook. The blade is wide and curved with a nick at the base, and is stamped 'Fussells Improved'. It is attached to the wooden handle with a steel ferrule. It was cleared from a shed in Verwood, Dorset.
