Descripción
A wooden spade with a long narrow blade and T shaped handle, for digging out dykes and ditches. The blade is edged with a metal strip which is wider than the blade. It is held in place with 3 large rivets on which is broken. This was one of a group of objects transferred to the Museum via Michael Hardy of the Dept Zoology. They came originally from Calthorpe Broad, Ingham, Stalham, Norwich.

The sharp edge would cut through the soft mud and the root systems of water plants along the edges of a drainage ditch.
