This is a butter mould in a swan design. It is used for making a solid block of butter in the shape of a swan. This item came to the museum as part of the Sharp Collection.

The Sharp Collection of agricultural and dairying equipment was compiled by Reverend C. J. Sharp at Wonersh, Surrey. Reverend Sharp died in 1967 and the Museum acquired the Collection for £60 in 1968., MERL ‘History Artefacts’ cards - ‘MOULD // PROCESSING Milk Butter // Source Rev Sharp // Notes: Description: a rectangular mould made of wood consisting of two identical halves with a swan design. It has two wooden pegs to hold the mould together. Use. For making a solid block of butter in the shape of a swan.’
