This is an iron furnace rake. It is long, with a loop at one end and two downward-facing iron 'tines' at the other end. It was found in the roof at Pry House Farm, Forest-in-Teesdale and believed to have been used in nearby lead mines. It probably dates from the late-nineteenth century.
