Descripción
This head of this rake has a spike on one side and six broad tines on the other. It was used for removing stones from fields before they were ploughed. It was dug up in the 1930s in the garden of the donor's cottage when it was being rebuilt.

'Stones were troublesome to the ploughman and a good deal of effort was made to clear them from the fields. Children and women provided most of the labour. They made use of small stone rakes... The heaps of stones were carted away to repair the roads.' (Vince, J., 'Old Farm Tools', 1974, p.9).
