Descripción
A housen is a piece of decoration attached to the top of a horse's collar. This is a plain, flat, leather housen with a series of holes along the lower edge, and two holes in the centre. There are two rows on stitch holes along the top edge. The front is inscribed 'J - x - Langton' and '1811', likely the owner's name. The housen is splashed with green paint.

In due course Fred was given the housen which he treasured, and passed on to the donor at the end of the 1980s.
