Descripción
This is a metal model of a combine harvester without it's cover so that the internal workings can be seen. It is painted red with yellow to the wheels and yellow bars on the pick-up reel. This model was used in the Engineering Department for teaching purposes.

The paintwork suggests it was modelled on the Massey-Ferguson ‘780’. Produced from 1953 to 1962, this machine became emblematic of post-war agricultural change, in particular the stark increase in mechanised farming. The number of combines in England and Wales rose from 10,000 in 1950 to 50,000 in 1960.MERL 90/4</SPAN></SPAN></P></DIV>
