Descripción
This is a mahogany waywiser (or 'perambulator') which has a dial with two hands for measuring yards, furlongs, poles and miles. The handle at the top is missing. It came from either Buckingham or Aylesbury, and probably dates from the late 18th century. It would have been used for estate measuring and the recording of boundaries. It is inscribed 'BANKS 441 Strand London' on the dial.
