Descripción
A cutting gauge, a type of marking gauge used to score deep lines, or make cuts, parallel to a fixed margin. It is made of wood with brass trim, and has an iron point for marking the line. The gauge is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
