Descripción
This is a telescopic, collapsible metal travelling cup with a basketwork case. The cylindrical case is made of willow skein and rush, and the lid is fastened with a bead loop fastening. The origin of the basket is unknown, although it is probably not English. It dates from the late-nineteenth or early-twentieth centuries.

Visiting researcher note, Tim Johnson (basketmaker), 20 June 2014 – This basket doesn’t look terribly well made – there are quite a few gaps/holes in the work., The Ann Mary Pilcher Collection of Victorian Baskets (67/60-94) was collected by Ann Mary Pilcher in 1957-1967, mostly from junk shops and stalls.
