Description
This hammer came from the wheelwright's shop in Braishfield, Hampshire, which belonged to the donor's father. It is a very heavy, short handle hammer, and was used for the heavier hammering work on wheels, such as pinning on tyres made in sections, and banging home the spokes. The iron head, on a wooden handle, has a rectangular shape but the curves have been shaped off so that the striking surfaces are round.
