Description
These are horse clippers, probably used for fairly heavy coated animals, as the cutting action is coarse. They cut over two teeth, that is each tooth in the top plate passes over two teeth in the bottom plate. The handles are made of wood, stained dark brown, and the blades of steel. The fixings are brass. The right hand handle moves the top plate to and fro. 'Clarkes Patent' is stamped three times on the steel, and 'W. C. Clarke 128. Oxford St, W.' on the left handle.
