This is a gas-fuelled iron that was used in the tailoring trade for pressing suits. It is made of steel with a wooden handle and a brass fitting where the flexible gas pipe is attached by a short length of rubber. The iron has been painted pale green and the handle and its attachment pieces are black. It is inscribed, 'GLC A. KENRICK & SONS LTD // ENGLISH PATENT NO...' It was manufactured by A. Kenrick & Sons Ltd. of West Bromwich in the West Midlands, probably in the late 1940s or 1950s.
