A brushing hook, with metal blade and wooden handle, for trimming, thinning and clearing brush thickets. It is inscribed 'Fussell // Mells // 2' and the tool marks on the edge of the blade indicated that is an original Fussell hook, made before the firm was taken over by Nash. The hook belonged to the donor's grandfather, a farm bailiff in the Tadley area of North Hampshire.
