This is a set of five cotton tray cloths or doilies which have been crocheted by hand, used on cake stands at the tea table. The doilies were made and used by Elenor Crane, married name Barker, used from 1903-1929.

Made 1902-3 by Eleanoe Crane- now Barker). 3. Round doyley- Small cotton centre 6cm diameter with crochet ‘lace’ border in white cotton. 23cm diameter. 4. Round doyley- small cotton centre 6cm diameter. Knotted border in white cotton 20cm diameter. 5. Small cloth rectangle. Cotton with crochet border scalloped edge. 31x15cm. Border 3cm wide.’
