Such a footwarmer might be used in a house or while travelling in a carriage. The foot-warmer is made of wood with an inlaid veneer round the edge and a carpet top. The water container inside is made of tinned iron with a brass screw stopper. There is a handle on the front side of the stool so that it can be carried when travelling. The stool is 13 inches long, 11 wide and 4.5 high. Mrs. Holden brought it to Newbury from her family home at Papplewick Hall in Nottinghamshire.'
