This is one of 214 duplicate 'gold' medals awarded to Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies between 1839 and 1889, and came from the company's Cape Town branch when the branch was closed. At the time of accession, the original medals were still in the possession of Ransomes. The original medal showed a wreath with a horse and an inscription in it. We only have the one side of the medal. This medal is 420mm in diameter and dates from an Exhibition in Germany.
