Beschreibung
This is a medium sized churn, made of tinned metal but it is very worn. There is a strong rim at the base with two holes in it. This rim acts as a stand for the churn. The churn tapers towards the neck and has a deep rim. There are two eyelets rivetted onto the neck to which the metal carrying handle is attached. The lid which would fit inside the neck is missing. The figure 4 is engraved on the neck, this may refer to the number of gallons the can holds. The churn would have been used for storing and carrying milk. This item was used at Hertfordshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture, St. Albans.
