Beschreibung
12 bobbins used in making lace, and previously a part of the collections at Carlisle Museum. They are made of wood, some of a dark-coloured wood and others of a lighter-coloured wood, and all have thistle tops. They vary in shape and decoration – some have circular grooves and others have zigzags. All have spangles – glass beads or ornaments attached to the bottom of the bobbin to provide additional weight (although one appears to have a plastic bead).
