Beschreibung
This twister was used to turn straw or hay into rope, often for use in thatching. It is crank-shaped and in three sections - a handle for holding, a handle for turning, and a hook for the straw. It was used on the donor's farm at Tufton Warren in Hampshire.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This straw rope twister has a particularly long metal rod which is shaped like a crank. There are two wooden handles, one for holding it and the other for turning. There is a hook at one end for the straw or hay.
