Beschreibung
A housen, also known as 'hounsing' or 'hounce', is a piece of decoration or protective cape attached to the top of a horse's collar. This is a rectangular leather housen with three circles of brass for decoration. It was used by the donor circa 1895–1935. The donor acquired the housen from a farmer who brought it from Dorset, and believed it to date from the mid-ninteenth century.
