MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This bow saw was used at the wheelwrights workshop at Eddington, Berks. // It consists of (1) two wooden handles each 16.5 inches long which are curved at their top ends beyond the saw blade. (2) a steel fine toothed blade 28.4 inches in length and 2.5 inches in width connecting the two handles in the centre. (3) an iron rod, which connects the two handles at the outer extremity. This takes place of the usual wire by which the blade is tightened or slackened as required. In this case a nut at the end of the rod adjusts the setting of the saw.'
