Trade tokens were often issued in the late eighteenth century by merchants. They were used to trade during times of coin shortages but also for advertising purposes. This token was issued in 1792 in Yarmouth, and features a shield design on one side with an image and text on the other. It is unclear whether it was issued in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, or Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
