Head bells and a plume were a common form of horse decoration and were attached to the bridle behind the ears. This set consists of two bells, of different sizes, and a horse hair plume dyed red. Lavinia Smith acquired them from Mr Albin Budd of Curry Rivel, Somerset.

They were attached to the strap of the bridle which passes behind the horse’s ears. // The plume was made of horse hair, dyed blue, white and red. // These head bells belonged to Albin Budd of Curry Rivel (Somerset).
