This policeman's lantern from Kent was sometimes also called a 'bull's eye' lantern. It is a small round lantern holding an oil lamp. It has a bull's eye glass window with a red disc on the inside so that the light would shine red. The top consists of three lines of conical shaped ventilators. There is a small knob attached to one of the ventilators which could be pushed to turn the light off. It has two handles which fold back upon the body and a strong clip on the back which is strengthened with a spring.
