Beskrivelse
This is a butter table, used for working butter to remove the buttermilk. It consists of a wooden table supported on trestle legs. The table has a surface shaped to allow butter to be scraped on and off, and has a moveable roller with ridges. There is a wooden bung at one end of the table for draining away the butter milk.' It is inscribed 'LISTER'.

MERL ‘History Artefacts’ card – 'Description: A wooden table supported on trestle type legs. The legs are supported from the top. There are two bars underneath which may have been used for supporting other items of equipment. // The table top has a wooden rim 5.0cm deep at the sides, 9.0cm deep at fixed end and 12.0cm deep at removable end. This enables butter to be scraped on and off the table. // There is a wooden roller 43.0cm long which has 8 ridges. The roller has iron fixings and an iron handle with a wooden end. There is a wooden bar above the roller to enable it to be moved to different positions on the table. There are small wooden wheels which act as runners. There is a wooden bung at one end of the table for draining away the butter milk. Butter milk is squeezed out by the pressure of the roller as it is moved along. // Use: For working butter in large quantities and to remove the butter milk.'
