This is a pair of breeches made of white cavalry twill by H. Huntsman & Son of Saville Row, London. The breeches would have been warn while fox hunting or horse riding.

<DIV STYLE="text-align:Justify;font-family:Georgia;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;font-size:16;color:#000000;"><P><SPAN><SPAN>Three pairs of breeches, circa 1930sThe white cavalry twill breeches were made by H. Huntsman and Sons of Saville Row, London, sometime between 1930 and 1938. This tailoring firm catered for land owners rather than working countrymen. It dressed eminent gentleman-farmers such as Winston Churchill. The brown corduroy breeches were made by Caldene Clothing, an equestrian outfitter founded in 1922. Although tailor-made they offered a cheaper alternative to top end firms. The leather breeches belonged to Mr Worthington, whose family farmed near Wimborne, Dorset, from the late 1930s until 1962.MERL 70/176, MERL 77/287, MERL 2002/2</SPAN></SPAN></P></DIV>
