الوصف
This is a large meat dish made of earthenware printed with the willow pattern in under-glaze blue. Blue was the favourite colour for transfer printing on pottery in the nineteenth century. The pattern was engraved onto a copper plate from which an impression was taken in ceramic colour on dampened tissue paper which was then rubbed onto the pottery. It is not known who the maker was or how Lavinia Smith acquired this dish.
