This small square was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire. It is a factory made square, made of a metal and a wooden arm with a brass strip along the inner edge of the wooden arm, and three brass diamonds where the arms are riveted together. It was used to make perfect right angles.
