This is a turf cutter, used at Whiteknights Park. This implement has an iron cutter with heavy iron drive roller, two disc cutters attached to wooden roller, chain mechanism, two triangular cutter blades, handles with rubber grips. It is horsedrawn. It was probably made around 1930 by H. Pattinsson & Co Ltd. Middlesex.

MERL 'Handwritten accession' form (Institute of Agricultural History) – 'Turf Cutter // Garden tools // Gift Works Dept, University of Reading // Description: This implement has an iron cutter with heavy iron drive roller, two disc cutters attached to wooden roller, chain mechanism, two triangular cutter blades, handles with rubber grips. It is horsedrawn. Painted red and green but it is rusty, worn and incomplete at present. Dimensions: Length: handles to front bar: 296cm. Width of roller: 37cm, Diameter: disc cutters 31cm // Associated information: This turf cutter was used in Whiteknight’s Park and was probably made in 1930’s. Inscription: H. Pattison & Co Ltd.
