These fifteen wooden bobbins are made of holly. They are very light and only have one neck. They are of an early type of bobbin called 'dumps' or 'bobtailed bobbins' and were used to make Bucks Point lace. They came together with a lacemaking pillow (51/842).

Visiting researcher note, Ann Dismukes (lacemaker), 1 October 2014 – These are Honiton bobbins and were all made by the same maker., MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'These wooden bobbins are made of holly. They are very light and have one neck only.
