This plaque depicts a ploughing scene with a ploughman harnessing his team of two horses to the plough while his dog looks on. The plough is a very simple swing plough with a flat wooden mouldboard, and the horses are harnessed for working in line. The ploughman's cider barrel hangs on the harness of the leading horse. Above the illustration is the caption 'God speed the plough'. The plaque is made of painted plaster of Paris and may date from the mid-nineteenth century.

The horses appear to be harnessed for working in line and on the harness of the leading horse hangs on the ploughman’s cider barrel. Over the illustration runs the caption GOD SPEED THE PLOUGH.
