ISLI’s Visiting Student Programme is a bespoke course that will introduce your students to studying at a UK university and to British culture, as well as developing their English Language and academic study skills.

We can work with your institution to create a bespoke course designed to meet the needs of a particular student group. Reading is a multicultural town, located just 40 minutes from Heathrow Airport and 30 minutes by train from London and Oxford.

Courses are for:

  • groups of international students who are currently studying at university.

Ideally the students will have intermediate-level English (CEFR B1-B2) but we can consider groups with any level of English proficiency.

Course content includes:

  • improving confidence and level of spoken English
  • learning essential elements of English for Academic Purposes
  • experience in UK university subject-specific study (for example business, economics, law, art, food science, construction management, English literature)
  • British cultural study.

Course arrangements include:

  • arrangements for airport pick-up
  • social events and cultural visits
  • accommodation in host-family homes, or in student accommodation on campus
  • access to the excellent library, technology and language-learning resources
  • a beautiful campus environment with cafes, shops and easy access to buses.

Timeframes and costs:

  • We will discuss the timeframes of courses in collaboration with you.
  • Costs will depend on the size of the group, the intensity of study required, and the amount of cultural or social events included.
  • We would typically expect at least 10 students to stay for at least two weeks.
