Closure of diagnostic service

In the summer of 2020, we took the decision to close our autism diagnostic service to allow us to focus on our early intervention service.

The Social Communication Intervention for Preschoolers (SCIP) is an evidence-based intervention appropriate for children with autism who are not yet talking through to children beginning to use phrase speech. The intervention is delivered by student speech and language therapists, closely supervised by qualified specialist speech and language therapists, as part of the University of Reading teaching clinic.  Full details can be found here.

We are also running a research trial of a new intervention for preschool children with autism who have little or no spoken language which aims to use music to develop language.  Details here.

Once the University re-opens after the pandemic, we plan to continue our program of events for parents and autistic adults as well as our professional special interest group.
